Introduction

ADNOC is a short name for an oil company in the list of the most powerful companies in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) - Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. The current company has the largest access to the planets oil and gas reserves.

The topic of this study for further reference is a problem that any company in the world has and ADNOC is no exception. Though looking upon the scope of opportunities ADNOC business provides, the company is able to pay as much attention to its workers as needed, in particular to everything that is connected to their workplace safety.

Nowadays, workers of major companies around the world are regarded to be the most valuable assets in which companies try to invest. That is why safety is a priority and is a major thing in all business areas worldwide. The main spheres of business are exploration and processing of gas and oil, chemicals and petrochemical production, product distribution after refinement, processing of oil and not forgetting maritime transport.

Because of the high number of business projects and spheres of operation, ADNOC always monitors the situation with safety and risk level. This approach was made possible due to constantly observing the main points of the Hazard Identification and Risk management Process (HIRA) program.

One of the main company policies is to make risk management and its control levers for the many operations in the business niche effective. In such a case we can say that the HIRA system is a major component in the chain of management operations of businesses. Safety systems are all about foreseeing risks and having safety measures in order to serve the purpose and help people in the best of ways.

Looking back at the above mentioned we can say that for any type of safety system, the factor of utmost necessity is preparation for possible hazards, problems or risks and their quick solution. The cause for such a mild system being hidden is in its proficiency and qualities that look upon different variables and evaluate the most probable and possible risks. All the available support resources and the development of management system culture are meant for excluding the possible risks.

One can say that this system is meant to observe and evaluate all managerial elements. HIRA makes a forecast, a slight evaluation, of any possible risks or problems in facilities, human life cycle, resources production cycle, people themselves and environmental hazards. The system addresses the possible risks in the way presented below:

1) Risk identification what could possibly go wrong;

2) Evaluate the possible outcomes concerning undesirable consequences;

3) Look upon the possibility of risk factor period and the possible risk effects.

Therefore, the study will focus on both the primary and secondary data regarding safety and risk means in the company. The most important means to gather primary data and info would be an uploaded online questionnaire with questions about risks, problems, safety hazards and, importantly, control.

This questionnaire survey will be filled out by members of staff and employees of the company. The research itself will be based on the answers of about 32 participants from various departments of ADNOC all over the world. The questions mostly dwell on the aspect of workplace safety:

2. What is your age?

3. Does the company have the Health and Safety Policy in writing?

4. Did you have the possibility to do risk assessment to locate the possible risks or hazards, as required by the team of Health and Safety at work?

5. Are such terms as employers liability insurance, fire certificates, as well as warning and evacuation systems present during your work time?

6. Does the company have a specially trained person to conduct personnel training, in order to inform about means of safe evacuation from the facilities in case of a problem, possible threat and hazard, or any other danger?

7. Does the company have an accentuated risk and hazard management course? Please, choose one of the following option: disagree/ neutral/ agree/ not applicable.

8. What is your experience in your current job position? Please, choose one of the following options: less than 6 month/ from 6 month till 12 month/ from 2 till 5 years/ from 5 till 10 years/ more than 10 years.

Thus we have localized the problem which is to learn how to better solve the possible threat and cope with the safety of employees at work. We have found interesting information regarding personal awareness in terms of danger, traumas, injuries, dangerous work conditions, international working standards, employee encouragement system, this could go on forever. The main idea here is to play the managing safety system by both the company and the employees.

Section 2. Review of Literature Reference

A career challenge for many people is always being safe, which in its own turn means lack of accidents, illnesses and/ or diseases. All employers are by law held responsible for having healthy working conditions for their employees. Every employer must take all necessary actions to make a significant and reliable response in regards to workplace health and safety rules and regulations (Occupational Health and Safety, 2003).

Each company should start from three easy actions to follow: inspect, report and accident analysis/ research. In accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act from 1970, these three steps make everything legitimate. These three factors have a major influence on separate aspects of employee work, like accident remodeling, failure analysis and manufacturer liability. This concept has a name and it is man, machine and the environment. All incidents, failures and accidents should be investigated, analyzed, reported, and considered in terms of resource materials for all actions on safety.

In the world, there are many programs directed towards taking care of workplace safety for people. Among them there are many health programs that are preventive and implying the wellness approach. The main points are used for working out the electrical, mechanical, computer engineering, metallurgical, aeronautical fields together with the human factor and operations.

SMS is regarded to be one of the main elements of corporate policy and responsibility that characterizes the company policy and all its operations in regards to safety business. The system shows various aspects of usage like a management system for finance, financial aspect of the business plan, target and budgets, levels of authority. The whole process is in the form of a monitoring element, evaluating all the potential risks and possible hazards.

Any type of accident is regarded to be an unforeseen loss that almost no company in the world wishes to have at its worksite and experience it. Section 3. Suggested Research Hypothesis

It is expected that all rules and regulations regarding health and safety should be performed, according to the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) actions the aim of which is to prepare personnel for potential hazards. The defining of the hazard process is vital, and it is important to project and foresee its possible consequences like trauma, illnesses, disease or injury (Work Safe, 2011).

These activities could bring us to a positive result showing an efficient risk management system together with a whole stratagem of correct implementation and in accordance with the regulations of the Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS). The OHSMS describes a way of treating standard hazards and shows in detail the instructions on how to determine the potential risk factors, correctly evaluate the situation and maintain the control over the support actions.

Rules and regulations of the OHSMS obligate employees of the business sphere to be prepared for any possible potential hazard scenario and be capable of taking the necessary measures to surpass the risk in any possible circumstances that might have a certain effect on the health conditions of the people (Industry Standards and Regulations, 2011).

Section 4. Methodology and Analysis of Research Data

The research study survey was conducted online with 32 participants, filling in the questionnaire. These 32 participants are representatives of ADNOC subsidiaries from all over the world. As an addition, the participants were requested to provide their thoughts on the matter whether the questions in the survey were comprehendible. In an emergency situation, people do not always think straight and a visual help in the form of a diagram, mind comprehendible diagram is a must. Nowadays, a safe workplace is a major plus in personal job assessment; however, it is not the main thing. It is interesting how people tend to think that a safe workplace is much more preferable than working in less comfortable conditions but for a bigger salary. Having made the study we can make a certain conclusion that there were limitations, specifically: some aspects were not fully analyzed, others were mentioned due to lack of information. There is an option to get a detailed information from the companies, as the retrieved information was allowed to be paid. Though, all retrieve information was allowed to be shared for public usage.

In the current research, the limitations are time and money. To make the research more professional and bring it a notch higher, one can say that there is a strong need to invest in it from the position of the budget. During research it was sometimes difficult to get people to participate, as they are busy and not all of them are ready to participate in an online survey?

During the process of the research, it was difficult to manage the responses of people for the reason that they all have their direct responsibilities and not all of them have the ability to participate in the online survey.

Here it should be noted that some people are still afraid to provide any personal information for a reason. Others are afraid of their assumptions for reasons that can be offered for the public. Because of this, employees were afraid for their jobs, thus they failed to fully respond to all questions honestly.

We must always consider this fault factor as the online participants might not be telling the whole truth because of their own personal concerns. Thus, it was decided that all the personal data would be classified. This was done in order to receive the correct contract. Additionally if the participant refuses to allow his personal data to be added to our databse, we will not share his personal information with a third party.

Conclusion and Future Recommendations

The system of safety risk management is unison of analysis, elimination and resilience, aimed at proper hazard management, as well as potential risk factors at any workplace, especially in business related to the industry. SMS could and should be proficient only if the company starts to constantly review, monitor and evaluate the results in order to improve the working conditions and protect people and equipment from operating risks and harm.
